Billy Dee Williams began drawing at an early age, and developed his fundamental skills in painting while attending New York’s High School of Music and Art. In 1955, he won the coveted Hallgarten Award Scholarship to the National Academy of Fine Art and Design.
While studying under artists like Robert Phillip and Boris Wolensky, Billy Dee also pursued his acting career that would ultimately lead to worldwide fame. Starring in movies such as Lady Sings the Blues and Star Wars brought Williams instant recognition for his acting talents, while his paintings found an audience with art collectors around the world. Mr. Williams’ paintings hang in the Smithsonian Portrait Gallery, The Schomberg Museum in New York and in homes and galleries around the world.
